Anti-imperialist debate, community kitchen and bar

By this event, we wanna bring the anti-imperialist debate closer to home, to Denmark, and to Greenland and the Greenlandic people who for decades have been living the reality of colonisation and exploitation by Denmark and other imperialist actors.

The two Greenlandic decolonisation activists Carmina Guldman and Nina Sikkersoq will use their own personal experiences as a starting point when analysing and deconstructing Denmark’s colonisation of Greenland, the oppression of the Greenlandic people and how young Greenlanders in various ways are coming together these years reclaiming their country, language and culture.

After the debate, there’ll be community kitchen for 50 kr per person and a good-old bar with both alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. As we slide into the evening, some nice tunes will be played by dj’zz and then, if the vibe takes you there, feel free to break the dance floor!

17.00-18.30: Political presentation and debate
18.30-20.00: Community kitchen
20.00-23.00: Bar, dj and good times

This evening programme is arranged in connection with IF’s yearly general assembly taking place during the day of the 26th of March. The purpose of the general assembly, among other things, is to develop as an organisation and as a part of the left-wing community in Copenhagen.*

NB. Deadline for signing up to the general assembly (a political meeting from 9am-4.30pm on March 26) has passed but if you’re really keen on participating (and thereby also becoming a member of IF) we’ll make it happen of course. Med dette arrangement ønsker vi at bringe den antiimperialistiske debat tættere på, tættere på Danmark og på Grønland og det grønlandske folk, der i århundreder har levet under dansk kolonisering og udbytning af imperialistiske aktører.

De to grønlandske afkoloniseringsaktivister Carmina Guldmann og Nina Sikkersoq vil bruge deres egne personlige erfaringer som udgangspunkt, når de analyserer og dekonstruerer Danmarks kolonisering af Grønland, undertrykkelsen af det grønlandske folk, og hvordan unge grønlændere på forskellig vis mødes i disse år for at genvinde deres land, sprog og kultur.

Efter debatten vil der være fælleskøkken til 50 kr. pr. person og bar med både alkohol og alkoholfrie drikkevarer. Musik og god stemning garanteres, vi satser på dj, og dansegulvet må meget gerne startes!

Aftenens program arrangeres i forbindelse med IF’s årlige generalforsamling, der finder sted på dagen den 26. marts. Formålet med generalforsamlingen er blandt andet at udvikle sig som organisation og som en del af det venstreorienterede miljø i København.*
